With its latest release, Fitbit is officially in the smartwatch game. The new Fitbit Ionic (available in October 2017) is available for preorder now at fitbit.com, and is a direct response to similar industry-leading watches like the Apple Watch or the Samsung Gear S3.
Boasting a battery life of four-plus days, and retailing at $299.95, the Ionic is the brand's most advanced and expensive watch to date. Featuring three color combinations (silver grey, smoke grey, and burnt orange), the wearables giant is allowing for countless strap combinations, including classic, sport, and leather bands.
Ready to upgrade your wrist accessories? Here's everything you need to know about the Fitbit Ionic:
It's music-friendly, coffee-ready, and doubles as your wallet
The company partnered with Pandora to allow you to load up to three favorite radio stations right on your watch (that means: no need to bring your phone on runs!), and up to 300 songs.
On top of that, you can also store credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, and American Express, at the moment), and the watch has a special Starbucks app that'll let you bring your coffee gold status for that post-workout java boost.
The workout features are mega-upgraded
On top of all of the Fitbit features we've come to expect – including step tracking, activity monitoring, continuous heart rate – it's also water resistant up to 50 meters and has an automatic workout recognition that features stop-and-go tracking for those city street runners that encounter stoplights every block on their run.
Health programs to come in 2018
One of the company's most exciting announcements is the introduction of a premium subscription-based program that bring health guides directly to your smartphone. Including a four-week guide to cut sugar intake, and a six-week couch to running program, the programs will premiere in 2018 and will guide you on a brand new health journey.
The Ionic will also feature a coaching program (dubbed Fitbit Coach), that will give you an on-screen coaching session, complete with proper form examples, that will motivate you to complete your goals.
It pairs perfectly with the Flyer headphones
The Fitbit Flyer wireless headphones ($129.95, fitbit.com) come with a customizing kit that allow you to shape the tips and wings of the earbuds to perfectly fit your ears. No more falling earbuds on your run!
