Isabel Olivas wins Miami Man International triathlon

Isabel Olivas, 25, of West Kendall won the women's race at the Miami Man International Triathlon on Sunday at Larry & Penny Thompson Park and Miami Metrozoo.

She completed the 0.6-mile swim, 22-mile bike and 6.6-mile run in 2 hours 3 minutes 43 seconds. Fort Lauderdale's Sonja Koppenwallner, 33, was second at 2:07:11.

Eduardo Bernal, 47, of Plantation also had a good season, concluding it with the men's title in 1:58:41. Hugo Ecija, 38, of Miami placed second in 1:58:57.

In the half iron triathlon (1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike, 13.1-mile run), Adriana Toro, 32, of Caracas, Venezuela won the women's division in 4:54:57. Zach Poehlman, 31, of Key West won the men's version in 4:35:20.

In the half iron duathlon (1-mile run, 56-mile bike, 13.1-mile run), Brandy Kircher, 34, of Royal Palm Beach was the first female finisher at 4:56:39. On the men's side, Mark Swart, 42, of Port St. Lucie won in 4:13:11.

VOLLEYBALL

Miami Dade College d. Hillsborough Community College 25-20, 25-20, 25-13: The Sharks won the FCCAA state championship with the victory. They were led by Yenifer Calcano's double-double (13 kills, 12 digs, 1 ace, 1 block). Calcano was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.

Duke d. Miami 25-17, 25-12, 25-18: Despite the effort of sophomore Lane Carico (11 kills and 11 digs), the Canes lost the home match.

SOCCER

Barry men 2, Tampa 0: With 6:67 to play, Mark Anderson blasted what ended up being the game-winning goal as visiting Barry (14-5-1) won Sunshine State Conference Tournament Championship.

TENNIS

Third-place finishes: Miami's Danielle Mills and Anna Bartenstein earned third-place finishes, claiming singles wins as the UM women concluded their weekend participation in the FSU Seminole Invitational in Tallahassee.

ROWING

Two wins: UM picked up two top-five finishes in the Head of the Hooch Regatta on the Tennessee River in Chattanooga, Tenn.
