  Seven Paralympic archers are now London-bound after conquering the U.S. Paralympic Team Trials on April 28 in Chula Vista, Calif. Matt Stutzman (Kalona, Iowa) and Dugan Denton (Joliet, Mont.) will join already-qualified Jeff Fabry (Tulane, Calif.) to represent the U.S. in the compound men's open classification. Jerry Shields (Jacksonville, Fla.) in compound men W1, Eric Bennett (Suprise, Ariz.) and Lee Ford (Perry, Ga.) in standing recurve and Russell Wolfe (Williamsburg, Va.) in recurve men W2 round out the U.S. Paralympic Archery Team.

  The draw for the 2012 Olympic basketball tournament in London was held Monday and the United States was placed into a group that will include Argentina, France and Tunisia.

  Clarissa Chun (Colorado Springs, Colo.) became the first women's freestyle wrestler to be nominated to her second Olympic Team after her stellar performance at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Wrestling in Iowa City, Iowa, on April 22. In addition to Chun, 15 other wrestlers qualified for the 2012 Olympic Games.

• U.S. women draw France, Colombia, N. Korea in Olympics

  The United States women's national soccer team was drawn with France, Colombia and North Korea on Thursday for the 2012 Olympic Games.

• Great Britain to make Olympic return against Senegal

  Great Britain will make its first appearance in men's Olympic soccer in 52 years against Senegal, the draw for this summer's tournament revealed Thursday.

  The men's epee team scored the U.S. its first world championship title in history at the 2012 World Team Championships on April 14 in Kiev, Ukraine. The quartet of Seth Kelsey (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Soren Thompson (New York, N.Y.), Ben Bratton (New York, N.Y.) and Cody Mattern (Colorado Springs, Colo.) defeated six-time reigning world champion France in the final, 44-37. Team USA defeated Hungary, Switzerland and Kazakhstan en route to the championship. The U.S. women's saber team also medalled at the world team championships, capturing the bronze medal.

  The U.S. won six of the seven championship bouts at the 2012 Women's Continental Championships on April 5 in Cornwall, Ont. Seventeen- year-old Claressa Shields (Flint, Mich.) scored her first international gold medal in convincing style, topping Mary Spencer, Canada's three-time world champion, 27-14. Alex Love (Monroe, Wash.), Marlen Esparza (Houston, Texas), Tiara Brown (Lehigh Acres, Fla.), Mikaela Mayer (Los Angeles, Calif.) and Franchon Crews (Baltimore, Md.) also earned gold medals for Team USA.

  Mark Lenzi, who captured two Olympic diving medals for the United States, including a gold in the 3-meter springboard at the 1992 Barcelona Games, has died. He was 43.

  Wrestlers qualified Team USA for seven additional spots at the London 2012 Olympic Games after stellar performances at the FILA Pan American Olympic Qualifying Tournament held March 23-25 in Kissimmee, Fla. Dremiel Byers (Kings Mountain, N.C.) and Clarissa Chun (Honolulu, Hawaii) won titles in their respective weight divisions to grant the U.S. Olympic Team berths. Freestyler Brent Metcalf (Davison, Mich.) and Greco-Roman wrestlers Spenser Mango (St. Louis, Mo.), Ellis Coleman (Oak Park, Ill.), Andrew Bisek (Chaska, Minn.) and Chas Betts (St. Michael, Minn.) placed second to qualify the U.S. as well. In total, the U.S. has qualified for 16 of the 18 Greco- Roman and freestyle events that will be contested in London.

  On March 18, Tim Morehouse (New York, N.Y.), James Williams (New York, N.Y.), Daryl Homer (New York, N.Y.) and Jeff Spear (Wyantskill, N.Y.) became the first U.S. men's sabre team to earn a world cup medal since 2005. The team captured bronze at the world cup in Moscow, which qualified the U.S. for a team spot at the 2012 Olympic Games.
