Miami Dolphins add security chief, human resources leader

The Miami Dolphins’ offseason moves continue to extend far beyond their roster.

On Monday, the team formally added two significant people to their front office: Joe Cicini to oversee the organization’s security efforts and Dan Caspersen to run the club’s human resources department.

Both bring sterling credentials to the franchise. Cicini joins the organization after 23 years of service in the FBI’s Miami division. His background includes work with the Joint Terrorism Task Force and he has provided crisis management training to the NFL, MLB, NBA and more. Longtime Dolphins Director of Security Stuart Weinstein will remain with the organization in his same capacity. Cicini also has over 17 years of liaison experience in the South Florida area with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, including the Miami-Dade and Miami police departments.

Caspersen last served as executive vice president of human resources at Toys ‘R’ Us, where he managed a $100 million budget. Before that, he ran the human resources department for Target Corp. Furthermore, Brandon Shore, who most recently was a finance and legal affairs specialist for the Dolphins, will now be the team’s human resources point man for the team’s Davie training facility.

The moves were part of the franchise’s desire to create a “one organization” culture, bridging the business and football worlds.

“We are all committed at this organization to providing a productive and respectful work environment, as well as ensuring the safety and security of all of our employees and fans,” said Dolphins CEO Tom Garfinkel.
