Richie Incognito postpones grievance hearing against Miami Dolphins, wants to return to team

Suspended guard Richie Incognito’s grievance hearing, scheduled for Thursday at the Miami Dolphins’ complex in Davie, was postponed until after NFL appointed investigator Ted Wells completes his independent review.

Suspended guard Richie Incognito’s grievance hearing, scheduled for Thursday at the Miami Dolphins’ complex in Davie, was postponed until after NFL appointed investigator Ted Wells completes his independent review.

“I have agreed to postpone my expedited arbitration hearing until after the investigation by Ted Wells is complete,” Incognito said in a statement. “I will cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation with a goal of resuming my career with the Miami Dolphins at the conclusion of this investigation. I love my teammates and hope we can put this distraction behind us soon.”

The Dolphins said Thursday: “Richie is cooperating fully with the NFL investigation and will meet with Ted Wells.”

The Dolphins suspended Incognito indefinitely Nov. 3 for what the team called conduct detrimental to the team. Incognito is appealing the suspension, which by league rules can be no longer than four games.

The Dolphins must either cut or reinstate Incognito after the Dec. 1 game against the New York Jets.
