Formula One racing's governing body, the International Automobile Federation (FIA), published the official entry list for the 2010 season on Monday, with newcomer Manor GP rebranding its team name to Virgin Racing.
The name change comes before Manor team principal John Booth and Richard Branson's Virgin Group's expected announcement of a sponsorship agreement later this week. Virgin sponsored F1 championship team Brawn GP this year, but Mercedes-Benz has recently taken over Brawn. Manor already has signed German driver Timo Glock.
Twelve teams rather than the expected thirteen currently make up the FIA list. Manor joins US F1, Campos Meta 1 and Lotus F1 as those new teams for next year's F1 campaign.
According to the FIA, Toyota's planned withdrawal and an announcement regarding their entry will be made "in due course." The FIA also noted, "Toyota remains formally bound by the Concorde Agreement to put forward a team in participation, though it has indicated it will not be in a position to do so."
Peter Sauber, who recently reacquired his former team from BMW after the German auto maker departed the sport earlier this year, is attempting to take over Toyota's spot in the FIA's entry field.
Furthermore, Brawn will change their name to Mercedes GP, and Red Bull will retain their Renault engine supply.
