The G.O.A.T. of motocross has something new to chew on: a racing career on four wheels.

Ricky Carmichael, a 15-time American Motorcyclist Association champion, has raced part-time on the NASCAR truck series this season.

But as of 2010, it will be his full-time job.

He plans to compete all season for Turner Motorsports next year, making his transition from bikes to trucks complete.

``I was at the end of my road [in motocross] and had accomplished all I wanted to accomplish,'' Carmichael said. ``I had to take advantage of the opportunity.''

With just two top-10s in 17 starts, Carmichael is 22nd in the truck series standings and has a long way to go before he lives up to his motocross nickname -- the Greatest Of All Time.

``I raced motorcycles my whole life,'' he said, ``but here I'm starting from ground zero.''

DIAL 811

Richard Childress Racing will use Kevin Harvick's No. 29 car to draw attention to the hazards of digging, featuring a logo on the deck lid that will read, ``811: Know what's below. Call before you dig.''

``Calling 811 is like having a spotter when you're digging,'' owner Richard Childress said. ``The spotter's job is it to let the driver know whether or not it is clear before he makes a move on the track helping him to avoid a collision that would put everyone in jeopardy.

``811 helps keep neighborhoods safe by ensuring people know what's below and that they're clear to break ground.''

ON TAP

Friday's schedule at Homestead-Miami Speedway includes Sprint Cup Series qualifying at 3:10 p.m.; Camping World Truck Series qualifying at 5 p.m., and the Camping World Truck Series Ford 200 at 8 p.m.
