The Miami Marlins will open their 33-game spring training schedule against a pair of college teams -- the University of Miami and Florida International University -- and are still expected to travel to Panama for two games against the New York Yankees in March.
Details of the Panama trip on March 15 and 16 are still being worked out and are not included on the spring schedule. But the Marlins will be facing the usual cast of teams during its 31-game Grapefruit League schedule in Florida.
Highlights of the 16-game home slate at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter include games against the Boston Red Sox on March 6, Detroit Tigers on March 9 and Atlanta Braves on March 12.
The Marlins will open their spring schedule against UM on Feb. 26, followed one day later by an exhibition against FIU. Both games are scheduled for 1:05 p.m. at Roger Dean.
Marlins pitchers and catchers will report to spring training Feb. 16. The team’s first full-squad workout will be held Feb. 20.
