Pirates recall Locke to start

St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - The Pittsburgh Pirates recalled pitcher Jeff Locke from Triple-A Indianapolis to start Tuesday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Locke owns a 6-3 record with a 3.51 earned run average over 16 starts with the Pirates this season, his fourth with the team.

The Pirates also recalled pitchers Casey Sadler, John Holdzkom and Bobby LaFromboise and outfielder Gregory Polanco from Indianapolis, selected the contract of infielder/outfielder Chase d'Arnaud from Indianapolis and designated utility man Michael Martinez for assignment.

Polanco, Pittsburgh's top prospect, hit .241 with six home runs, 30 RBI and 12 stolen bases over 64 games with the Pirates before being optioned back to Triple-A on Aug. 25.
