Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - The Oakland Athletics recalled left-handed pitcher Drew Pomeranz from Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday.

Pomeranz was on Oakland's Opening Day roster and was 1-1 with a 1.98 ERA in nine relief appearances before moving into the starting rotation May 7.

He then went 4-3 with a 3.21 ERA in eight starts before fracturing his right hand on June 16. He was 3-1 with a 3.69 ERA in eight starts with the River Cats.

To make room for Pomeranz, the A's optioned first baseman Nate Freiman to Single-A Beloit. Freiman is batting .241 with four home runs and 12 RBI in 22 games over two stints with the big-league club.
