Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - The Toronto Blue Jays have designated pitcher Sergio Santos for assignment.
This marks the second time this season that Santos has been DFA'd by the Jays. Back on July 21 he was designated and later agreed to a minor league deal. He was then recalled from Triple-A Buffalo on August 23.
In two appearances since his recall, the right-hander has allowed three earned runs on four hits. He yielded a pair of homers in one-third of an inning of work against the Red Sox on Tuesday night.
For the season, Santos has an 0-3 record with an 8.57 ERA.
The Blue Jays recalled pitcher Chad Jenkins from Buffalo to replace Santos on the roster.
