Cubs place Castro on bereavement list

Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Chicago Cubs placed shortstop Starlin Castro on the bereavement list on Thursday.
Castro left the team on Wednesday following the death of his cousin.
The 24-year-old is hitting .284 with 13 homers and 64 RBI this season.
In addition, Chicago placed pitcher Edwin Jackson on the 15-day disabled list due to a right lat strain.
Jackson is 6-14 with a 6.09 ERA this year.
