Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) - The Washington Nationals acquired relief pitcher Matt Thornton off waivers from the New York Yankees on Tuesday.

The left-hander went 0-3 with a 2.55 ERA in 24 2/3 innings over 46 appearances with the Yankees this season.

In other roster news for the Nationals, pitcher Taylor Jordan was transferred to the 60-day disabled list.

To replace Thornton on their roster, the Yankees signed pitcher Rich Hill. The left-hander made just two appearances with the Angels earlier this season and failed to get an out, allowing one hit and walking three.
