Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Texas Rangers added Mike Carp to the active 25-man roster and placed catcher Chris Gimenez on the paternity leave list prior to Monday's game against the Chicago White Sox.

Carp was claimed off waivers from the Boston Red Sox on Sunday. The six-year veteran batted .198 in 42 games for the Red Sox this season and was part of their World Series-winning team last year.

Gimenez is the first Rangers player to go on the paternity leave list since Michael Young in 2012, according to the team. He can remain on the list for up to three days.

Left-handed reliever Ryan Feierabend, who was designated for assignment last Friday, was assigned outright to Triple-A Round Rock on Monday.
