Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Seattle Mariners placed utility player Willie Bloomquist on the 15-day disabled list Thursday with a right knee contusion.
Bloomquist suffered the injury Wednesday's loss to the Mets while running out an RBI groundout in the eighth inning. He is hitting .278 with a homer and 14 RBI in 47 games this season.
The Mariners also selected the contract of infielder Chris Taylor from Tacoma and recalled designated hitter/first baseman Jesus Montero from the Triple-A club. Right-handed pitcher Taijuan Walker was optioned to Tacoma following Wednesday's contest.
Taylor was expected to make his major league debut by starting at shortstop and hitting ninth Thursday against the Baltimore Orioles. He hit .328 at Tacoma.
