Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - The Houston Astros placed pitcher Collin McHugh on the 15-day disabled list prior to Saturday's game against the Boston Red Sox due to a torn fingernail on his throwing hand.

McHugh sustained the injury in Sunday's outing against the Angels, during which he was forced to exit after four innings. The right-hander had originally been slated to pitch in Saturday's matchup with the Red Sox.

Brett Oberholtzer was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City to take McHugh's place on Saturday.

McHugh has been a pleasant surprise for Houston this season, compiling a 3.28 earned run average along with a 4-8 record in 14 starts since being promoted from Oklahoma City in late April.

Oberholtzer opened the season in the Astros' rotation but was sent to the minors at the end of May. The lefty has started a pair of games for Houston since the demotion, including one last week in Anaheim in which he allowed five runs in 6 1/3 innings.

The 25-year-old entered Saturday's action with a 2-7 record and a 4.66 ERA in 11 overall major league starts this season.
