Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - The Houston Astros called up pitcher Jose Veras from Triple-A Oklahoma City prior to Thursday's game against the Atlanta Braves.

The Astros signed Veras to a minor league contract on June 15. The right- hander tossed two scoreless innings for Oklahoma City.

Veras went 0-1 with an 8.10 ERA in 12 games with the Chicago Cubs earlier this season.

Veras is 19-23 with 26 saves and a 3.99 ERA in 406 career games with the Yankees, Indians, Marlins, Pirates, Brewers, Astros, Tigers and Cubs.

To make room on the roster for Veras, the Astros outrighted pitcher Kyle Farnsworth to Oklahoma City. He appeared in 16 games with Houston and posted an ERA of 6.17.
