Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Chicago Cubs activated catcher Welington Castillo from the 15-day disabled list on Sunday.
Castillo was batting .242 with five home runs and 21 RBI over 43 games prior to landing on the DL at the beginning of June with left rib cage inflammation.
The Cubs designated catcher Eli Whiteside for assignment in a corresponding move. Whiteside hit .120 (3-for-25) in eight games with the Cubs this season, his first action at the major league level since 2012.
