Bronx, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The Toronto Blue Jays surprisingly optioned pitcher Steve Delabar to Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday.

Delabar, a 2013 All-Star, has compiled a 3-0 record with a 4.68 ERA in 29 games this season. The 30-year-old was effective last season, finishing the season with a 3.22 ERA and 82 strikeouts in 58 2/3 innings.

The Blue Jays recalled infielder Munenori Kawaski from the Bisons to replace Delabar on the active roster.

Kawaski, who played in three games earlier this season, appeared in 96 games last season for the Blue Jays and batted .229 with 24 RBI and one home run.
