Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Oakland Athletics placed infielder Alberto Callaspo on the paternity list prior to Friday's game against the New York Yankees.

Callaspo is expected to miss this weekend's three-game series with the Yankees with his wife about to give birth.

The versatile 31-year-old has started games at first base, third base and second base for the A's this season, but is hitting just .218 with three home runs and 20 RBI and is currently mired in a 1-for-28 slump.

Infielder Andy Parrino was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento to take Callaspo's spot on the active roster.

A .186 hitter over 93 career major league games, Parrino has recorded a .344 average in 44 games at Sacramento since being claimed off waivers from the Texas Rangers on April 21.
