Arlington, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - The Texas Rangers placed pitcher Tanner Scheppers on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday with right elbow inflammation.

Scheppers, who was Texas' opening day starter, was on the disabled list from April 18-June 4 with the same injury. He returned to give up four runs in four relief appearances since being activated.

The right-hander has an 0-1 record with a 9.00 ERA in eight games (four starts) this season.

To take his place on the active roster, Texas recalled right-handed pitcher Ben Rowen from Triple-A Round Rock.

Rowen, who has never pitched in the majors, has posted 10 straight scoreless appearances and owns a 1-0 record with a 2.75 ERA across 16 games for the Express.
