Los Alamitos, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner California Chrome had another workout Friday morning at Los Alamitos as he continues training for his comeback race.

Trained by Art Sherman, the 3-year-old colt covered five furlongs in 1:01 flat over a fast Los Alamitos track.

"We are very happy with how his training is going and are looking forward to his next race," the colt's connections posted on Facebook.

Thursday afternoon it was announced that California Chrome will have a public workout at Los Alamitos on Saturday, Sept. 6. The colt will work between the third and fourth races in preparation for his return to the races in the $1 million Pennsylvania Derby on Sept. 20 at Parx Racing.

The 3-year-old colt, owned by Steve Coburn and Perry Martin, has been away from the races since finishing in a dead heat for fourth in the Belmont Stakes on June 7.
