Saratoga Springs. NY (SportsNetwork.com) - A field of six 3-year-old fillies has been entered for Sunday's $300,000 Coaching Club American Oaks at Saratoga Race Course.
Trainer Todd Pletcher, with five American Oaks wins including last year with Princess of Sylmar, will saddle Black-Eyed Susan winner Stopchargingmaria. The filly will be making her first start since claiming the Pimlico stakes on May 16 and again will have Javier Castellano riding from the inside post.
Stopchargingmaria gave Castellano his first Black-Eyed Susan win and fourth for Pletcher. She's banked $874,000 with four wins from eight career starts.
Owned by Michael Repole, the filly was coming off a fourth-place finish on April 5 in the Fantasy Stakes at Oaklawn Park. She began 2014 with a fifth in the Davona Dale at Gulfstream Park.
As a 2-year-old, the filly won the Tempted and Demoiselle Stakes at Aqueduct. She was third in the Frizette at Belmont Park on Oct. 5 after finishing second in Saratoga's Spinaway on Sept. 1 and winning her debut race at Saratoga on July 19.
Here is the field for the Coaching Club American Oaks in post position order: Stopchargingmaria, Javier Castellano; Unbridled Forever, Joel Rosario; Miss Besilu, Jose Lezcano; Courageous Julie, Luis Saez; America, John Velazquez and Taketheodds, Brian Hernandez Jr.
Post time for the Oaks will be approximately 6:04 p.m. ET.
