The Columbus Blue Jackets placed center Manny Malhotra on injured reserve on Thursday.
The Blue Jackets didn't disclose the injury, but the Columbus Dispatch reported that a lower-body injury sidelined the veteran center, who was placed on IR retroactive to October 5.
Malhotra, 28, scored 11 goals and tallied 18 assists in 71 games for the Blue Jackets last season, his ninth in the league. The Mississauga, Ontario native has 65 goals and 97 assists in 557 games with the New York Rangers, Dallas Stars, and Columbus.
To fill his roster spot, the Blue Jackets recalled right wing Derek Dorsett from Syracuse of the AHL.
