Recap: Vancouver vs. San Jose

Dan Boyle scored the go-ahead goal on the power play in the second period and the Sharks continued their success against Vancouver with a 4-2 victory at General Motors Place.

Manny Malhotra and Jamie McGinn scored in a 13-second span late in the third period to seal San Jose's eighth victory over the Canucks in the last nine regular season meetings. Frazer McLaren scored his first career goal and Evgeni Nabokov stopped 25 shots for the Sharks, who have won four of their last five games.

Jannik Hansen and Kyle Wellwood had the goals for Vancouver, which had won four of its previous five games. Roberto Luongo made 26 stops for the Canucks, who finished 3-2 on a five-game homestand.

The Sharks capitalized on an Alex Edler hooking penalty to take a 2-1 lead at 6:15 of the second period, as Boyle put in a rebound from the right side of the net.

Malhotra scored on a backhander in front off a pass from Ryane Clowe with 2:35 left in the game, and then McGinn scored off a giveaway in front.

Hansen netted his second of the season, but that came with 6.3 seconds left.

"I the third I would have like to see a little bit more poise from us," admitted Boyle. "They were in our zone a lot, but overall that's what you call a good team road win."

Wellwood scored 1:59 into the game on a wrister from the right circle, but McLaren tied it at 12:18 on a tip-in off a pass from Joe Pavelski from the right corner.

"We played well at first, but I think the penalties in the second period caught up to us," said Wellwood. "Give credit to them. We tried to play our game, but they were too good checking."

Jed Ortmeyer had a goal waved off at the conclusion of the first period as the score came just after time ran out.
