Recap: Los Angeles vs. San Jose

Evgeni Nabokov made 33 saves, as the San Jose Sharks edged the Los Angeles Kings, 2-1, in a Pacific Division battle.

Dany Heatley and Dan Boyle had the goals for the division-leading Sharks, who rebounded from a loss Saturday against Detroit. San Jose also got its first regulation win over the Kings in five contests this season.

"We were a little more detailed. It still wasn't easy," said Sharks head coach Todd McLellan. "They are a very good hockey club. They came at us very hard in the third period. They got a lot of momentum off the power play, but I thought we were better along the boards. We won more battles."

Henrik Sedin scored the go-ahead goal early in the final period, as the Vancouver Canucks scored three times in the third to defeat the Los Angeles Kings, 4-1, at General Motors Place.

Henrik Sedin also had an assist for the Canucks, who have won three of their past four games. Alexandre Burrows and Kyle Wellwood each had a goal and an assist. Tanner Glass had the other goal for Vancouver, which got 31 saves from Roberto Luongo.

"In the second period they had 11 scoring chances, which is more than we've given up in the last three games and they were all over us, we weren't good at all and he kept us in and in the third period we were able to get our rhythm back and generate a lot of chances and we found a way to beat their goaltender," said Canucks coach Alain Vigneault.

St. Paul, MN (Sports Network) - Guillaume Latendresse scored the go-ahead goal in the third period and collected three assists, as the Minnesota Wild edged the Pittsburgh Penguins, 4-3, at Xcel Energy Center. Martin Havlat, Cal Clutterbuck and Eric Belanger also tallied for the Wild, who notched their third straight victory. Niklas Backstrom stopped 35 shots to tie Manny Fernandez for most career wins in franchise history (113). Sidney Crosby and Pascal Dupuis both registered a goal and two assists for Pittsburgh, which has dropped seven of its last nine games. Marc-Andre Fleury made 20 saves in defeat.

Final Score: Colorado 3, Calgary 2 (SO) Chris Stewart tied the game in the second period and scored the decisive goal in the shootout, as the Colorado Avalanche continued their recent mastery of the Calgary Flames with a 3-2 victory at the Pengrowth Saddledome. Colorado improved to 4-0 this season against its Northwest Division rival. Craig Anderson made 44 saves through regulation and overtime for Colorado

Recap: Toronto vs. San Jose

Ryane Clowe's goal in the third period lifted the San Jose Sharks to a 3-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs at Air Canada Centre.

Dan Boyle and Joe Pavelski each had a goal for the Sharks, who have won four of their last five games. Evgeni Nabokov made 32 saves in the win.

"We weren't very good in the first period and we were clearly outworked," said San Jose head coach Todd McClellan. "So we shuffled things around a bit and got things to work in the third. Still wasn't one of our best games."

Edmonton Oilers (10-12-4) at Vancouver Canucks (13-11-0), 10 p.m.

The Vancouver Canucks will aim for their fourth win in five games when they host the Edmonton Oilers in tonight's Northwest Division battle at General Motors Place.

The Canucks posted a 4-1 victory over visiting Los Angeles on Thursday to rebound from last Sunday's 1-0 home loss to Chicago. Even with the shutout loss to the Blackhawks, Vancouver has scored 17 times over its last four games.

Henrik Sedin tallied the go-ahead goal early in the final period as Vancouver scored three times in the third period to defeat the Kings at GM Place. Sedin also had an assist for the Canucks.
