Mired in a terrible offensive slump, the Detroit Red Wings will try to regain their scoring touch when they visit the St. Louis Blues for tonight's Central Division battle at Scottrade Center.

The Red Wings have been shut out in each of their last two games and have gone 153 minutes and 22 seconds without scoring a goal, the club's longest drought since March 24-29, 1977 when Detroit went 197 minutes, 58 seconds without a tally. The Wings have never been shut out in three straight regular-season games in the franchise's storied history.

Detroit was dealt a 3-0 setback Friday night by Miikka Kiprusoff and the visiting Flames. Kiprusoff stopped 40 shots for his second shutout of the season and 32nd of his career.

Chris Osgood made only 14 stops for the Red Wings, who were shut out at home in their previous game on Wednesday against Atlanta. Detroit hadn't suffered back-to-back home shutout defeats since Boston and Montreal blanked the Wings at their former home, the Olympia, on March 23 and 27, 1977.

Detroit, which has lost five of its last six games overall, is just 4-5-2 as the visiting club this season.

The Red Wings and Blues are meeting for the first time since opening the season with a two-game series in Stockholm. The Blues took both games during the Swedish set to give them three straight wins overall against Detroit. The Wings won the first five matchups last season before St. Louis ended the slide with a win in Detroit on April 2.

St. Louis comes into tonight having won two straight and four of its last five contests. The Blues registered a 3-1 victory Friday in Nashville to end the Predators seven-game winning streak. Chris Mason stopped 37 shots to lead St. Louis to the win at Sommet Center.

Brad Boyes, David Backes and Paul Kariya each had a goal for the Blues, while T.J. Oshie had two assists in the win.

"You have two teams that battle. We have respect for them because they play so hard and the only way to beat them is to match that effort," said Blues head coach Andy Murray about his club's rivalry with Nashville.

The Blues are just 5-8-1 as the host this year and have lost three of their last five in the Gateway City. Following tonight, St. Louis will head out on a three-game road trip.
