After dominating the opposition in the first month of the season the Colorado Avalanche have become inconsistent in November. The Avs will try to get back on track this afternoon when they visit the struggling Minnesota Wild at Xcel Energy Center for the opener of a home-and-home series between Northwest Division foes.

Colorado went 10-1-2 in the first 13 games of the season, but is just 4-6-2 in 12 games since. The Avalanche ended a two-game slide with Monday's victory over Philadelphia, but followed that up with Wednesday's overtime loss against Nashville.

David Legwand scored the game-winner 3:07 into the extra session to lift the Predators to a 4-3 win in Denver. Legwand found a loose puck down low and fired a shot over the pad of Craig Anderson and inside the left post.

"They just kept throwing pucks at the net. I didn't see how it went through," Anderson said of Legwand's goal.

Milan Hejduk, Marek Svatos and Ryan Wilson each had a goal for the Avalanche, who have dropped six of their last eight games. Anderson stopped 23 shots in defeat.

Colorado defenseman and team captain Adam Foote will miss his fifth straight game today with a jaw injury. Foote has returned to practice, but is still not ready for game action.

The Avalanche are playing six of their next seven games on the road with the lone home test coming tomorrow night against the Wild. Colorado, which is 7-5-3 as the guest this season, has lost two straight and five of its last six away from the Pepsi Center.

Minnesota, meanwhile, has lost five of its last six games overall and comes into today's action last in the Northwest Division and 13 points behind first- place Colorado.

The Wild are 1-1-1 on a four-game homestand that ends today. They followed up Friday's win over the New York Islanders by dropping a shootout decision Wednesday against Boston.

David Krejci notched the winner for the Bruins in the fourth round of the shootout, lifting Boston to the 2-1 decision at Xcel Energy Center. Both teams had tallied once in the first three rounds. Krejci began the fourth round with a successful backhander, then former Bruin Chuck Kobasew had his forehand shot turned aside to end the contest.

Andrew Ebbett scored for the Wild, while Niklas Backstrom took the loss after stopping 15-of-16 shots. The setback dropped Minnesota to 6-3-1 as the host this season.

Minnesota played its second straight game without winger Martin Havlat, who is battling a hamstring injury. Havlat, who is day-to-day, has disappointed with just two goals and six assists over 19 games with the Wild after signing a six-year, $30 million deal in the offseason.

Forwards Petr Sykora and Pierre-Marc Bouchard and defenseman Brent Burns are all out with concussions for Minnesota.

The Wild notched a 3-2 shootout victory over a visiting Colorado club on October 21. Minnesota has taken four of five and nine of the last 12 overall meetings in the series, while the Avs have dropped three straight and eight of nine in St. Paul.
