The Boston Bruins will try to keep their longest winning streak of the season alive when they welcome the New Jersey Devils for an afternoon battle at TD Garden.

The Bruins have won their last four games after beginning the month of November with a 2-3-3 record. Today, Boston will aim for its first five-game winning streak since rattling off six in a row from March 22-April 4 of last season.

All of Boston's wins during the current streak came on the road and three of the victories were decided after regulation. The Bruins picked up a 2-1 win Wednesday in Minnesota, as David Krejci notched the deciding goal in the fourth round of the shootout.

Both teams had tallied once in the first three rounds. Krejci began the fourth round with a successful backhander, then former Bruin Chuck Kobasew had his forehand shot turned aside to end the contest.

Byron Bitz tallied in regulation for the Bruins, while Tuukka Rask made 28 saves for the win. Rask made his fifth straight start in place of injured regular Tim Thomas, who is day-to-day with an undisclosed injury but could play today. If Thomas can't go then Rask, who is 7-2-1 on the season, will make his sixth straight appearance.

Boston could also be without forward Milan Lucic today after he left Wednesday's game with a left knee injury. Lucic was playing in just his fourth game since missing over a month of action with a broken finger. He has two goals and three assists in 10 games this year.

This afternoon's tilt marks the start of a three-game homestand for the Bruins, who are just 6-5-2 as the host this season. Boston will continue the residency Saturday against Ottawa before closing the stand Wednesday versus Tampa Bay.

The Devils will try to keep building momentum today after ending a three-game slide Wednesday against Ottawa. New Jersey had won eight in a row prior to dropping three straight last week.

Patrik Elias' first goal of the season was the game-winner for the Devils on Wednesday, as Jersey snapped Ottawa's season-high four-game win streak with a 3-1 victory.

Elias, who missed more than a month to start the season while recovering from offseason groin surgery, tipped home an Andy Greene point shot with 1:26 left in the second period.

"I knew it was going to take time just to get my game back and started playing the way I'm capable of. Hopefully this is a good sign," said Elias. "In the last two games...I started to make plays and I feel like I'm more comfortable, getting more shots, getting more involved."

Jamie Langenbrunner did the dirty work, digging the puck out of the corner to set up Greene's wrister before icing the game with an empty-net goal late in the third. Greene finished with two assists.

Niclas Bergfors also scored while Martin Brodeur was solid with 24 saves for the Devils. Zach Parise also added an assist to push his point streak to eight games. He has seven goals and six helpers during the tear.

New Jersey will try to end a three-game road losing streak today. The Devils began the season with a 9-0-0 record as the guest, falling one win shy of tying the 2006-07 Buffalo Sabres for the best road start to a year in NHL history.

Devils forward Rob Niedermayer will miss his 10th straight game today with an upper-body injury, but could return in Saturday's home test against the New York Islanders.

The Devils posted a 2-1 victory when they visited Boston on October 29. Jersey has taken four of six and seven of 10 in the series overall, but the clubs have split the last four meetings in Beantown.
