The Sports Network

St. Paul, MN (Sports Network) - Columbus Blue Jackets forward Jason Chimera left Friday's preseason 2-0 loss to Minnesota on a stretcher after being checked into the boards by Eric Belanger.

A Blue Jackets team spokesman said that Chimera was coherent, and he was taken to a local hospital to be evaluated.

Belanger was given a five-minute boarding penalty and a game misconduct.

Chimera played in 49 games in 2008-09, recording eight goals and 14 assists for Columbus.
