Local coaches will guide All-American basketball

Three South Florida high school coaching icons with 14 state titles among them will grace the sidelines April 1 at the McDonald's All-American High School basketball game.
Monsignor Pace's Mark Lieberman, who has led the Spartans to four state titles, and Darryl Burrows, who has guided powerhouse Fort Lauderdale Dillard to five state titles since 2000, will guide the boys' East team.
South Broward boys' coach Abby Ward, who led the South Broward girls' team to five of its six state titles, will guide the girls' East team when the s All-American game makes its Florida debut at UM's BankUnited Center.
The boys' game will be broadcast live on ESPN starting at 8 p.m. and will be preceded by the girls' game on ESPNU at 5:30 p.m.
The roster won't be announced until Feb. 19 on ESPNU, but anticipation is building that one of those players will be homegrown star Kenny Boynton Jr., a high-scoring guard for Plantation American Heritage.
BOYS' BASKETBALL
Coral Reef 83, Krop 81 (OT): In a battle of two top-ten teams in the state, seventh-ranked Coral Reef defeated fifth-ranked Krop 83-81 in overtime.
Senior Jerron Granberry scored 37 points to lead the Barracudas. Granberry scored nine of the Barracudas' 11 points in overtime. Frank Tameze came off the bench in the fourth quarter and had six points and four blocks. Tameze had a key block in overtime with ap seconds left to play. Angel Rodriguez of Krop hit a three-pointer as regulation time expired to send the game into overtime.
