TEAMS OF THE WEEK

• Miami Springs girls' soccer: Even after having one of their top players, Emily Drew, carted off the field with a broken leg, the Golden Hawks won their second GMAC championship in three years with a 3-2 overtime victory against Palmetto. Paula Zuluaga scored twice, and Abby Carr delivered the game-winning goal in the second overtime.

• South Dade wrestling: The Bucs had five individual champions -- senior Kendrick Sanders (145-pound weight class), sophomore Earl Hall (103), senior Mauricio Villanueva (119), senior Wilson Metellus (135) and senior Willie Wiggins (215) -- as they won their fifth consecutive GMAC title.

TOP PERFORMERS

• Julian Vasquez, Miami High, boys' basketball: Vasquez scored 53 points and had 11 rebounds to lead the Stingarees to an 80-78 victory against Pensacola Pine Forest.

• Maurice Kemp, Dade Christian, boys' basketball: Maurice Kemp totaled 67 points and 37 rebounds in three games for the Crusaders last week as they went 2-1.

• Melanie Roca, Lourdes, girls' basketball: Roca broke the school record for three-pointers in a game, set earlier in the season, by hitting 10 three-pointers in a victory against Southwest that kept Lourdes undefeated in Miami-Dade County.

• Aundria Nickles, Coral Gables, girls' basketball: Nickles scored 14 points and grabbed 18 rebounds to lead the Cavaliers to a 42-37 district win against South Miami.

• Eric Chandler, Braddock, wrestling: Chandler became the second four-time GMAC individual champion with his 10-7 decision Saturday in the 125-pound weight class.

• Alejandro Guerro, Coral Reef, boys' soccer: With one goal and two assists, Guerro led the Barracudas to a 5-1 victory against previously unbeaten Ferguson.

• Erika Arciniega, South Dade, girls' soccer: Arciniega recorded her fifth shutout of the season, leading the Bucs to an upset victory against Ferguson in the GMAC quarterfinals. Arciniega also held Miami Springs to one goal in a semifinal defeat.
