Palmetto girls beat Southridge; Pace wins tourney
The Palmetto girls' soccer team defeated Southridge 2-0 on Monday afternoon.
Leading the way for the Panthers (11-1-1) was Dasha Munoz who had one goal and one assist.
Kayla Mosquera also added one goal.
Goalkeeper Ericka Azanic recorded her fifth shutout of the season.
WRESTLING
Monsignor Pace captured the team title of the 16th annual Florida Christian wrestling tournament Saturday.
The Spartans scored 236 points to finish ahead of runner-up Miramar Everglades.
Pace had seven individual champions -- Andy Quintana (125), Alain Espinoza (135), Martavious Frazier (140), Dedley Weche (160), Tavares Hicks (171), Julian Martinez (189) and Kieffer Scott (215).
''It was good experience for our guys because we went up against a lot of the kids that we'll likely wrestle in regionals,'' Pace coach Frank Pelegri said.
GIRLS' SOCCER
Lourdes 7, Coral Park 0: Gaby Casariego led Lourdes (10-1-1) with two goals. Kyara Marquez added one goal. Francis Pis-Dudot also contributed one goal.
Southwest 1, Sunset 0: Vanessa Toledo scored the game-winning goal for the Eagles (6-4-3).
Jennifer Ramirez assisted on the goal.
Miliam DeLeon recorded her fourth shutout of the season.
St. Brendan 1, Miami Country Day 1: Christy Obregon scored the goal for the Sabres (8-3-3).
Christina Miranda assisted on the goal.
Saturday -- Killian 2, Homestead 0: Laura Go had one goal and one assist.
Megann McGinley had one goal and one assist.
Sarah Hartley had her fifth shutout. Kil 4-7-3.
BOYS' SOCCER
Florida Christian 3, Pace 0: Huey Gonzalez had one goal. Grisham Alayon had one goal. Andrew Quintana had one goal. FC 9-1-3.
Reagan 4, Key West 2: Juan Castellano, Juan Montoya and Luige Monteverde led the Bison (8-1-2) each with a goal.
Coral Reef 1, South Dade 0: Brian Wilkinson led the Barracudas (8-2-2) with a goal. Bernardo Bergdman had an assist. Facundo Torino recorded his ninth shut out of the season.
Miami Country Day 4, Miami Christian 2: Axel Halvorssen led the Spartans (9-1-1) with two goals. Quinton Watson contributed one goal. Tyrone Serrao also added one goal.
Coral Gables 3, South Miami 0: Juan Serpa, Gonzalo Mora, and Jose Bueno each scored a goal to lead the Cavaliers (8-3-1). Daniel Brenner recorded his fourth shutout of the season.
