Cypress Bay will travel to Hollywood Hills in the region quarterfinals on Nov. 4.

Amanda Wright played very well with 10 kills (block) and six service points (ace). Bola Adeoba, who had 13 service points (three aces), four kills (block, tip) and solid defense, recorded five service points (two aces) and two kills (block, tip) in a close game two.
District 12-6A: West Broward def. Cypress Bay 25-14, 25-20, 25-19: In just its second year, top seed West Broward won the district championship on Wednesday by defeating second seed and host Cypress Bay.

District 10-6A -- Douglas def. Coral Springs 25-16, 25-10, 25-19: A balanced attack led top seed Douglas over visiting Coral Springs for the district title. It marked the 15th district title for the Eagles and eight in a row.
Douglas, the top public school team in Broward, proved why with senior Kendall Putnam totaling 12 kills (two blocks), nine digs, seven service points (two aces), sophomore Brittany Sauls recording 14 digs, eight service points (two aces), four kills (two tips) and junior Aline Valiengo adding 21 assists, six kills (three tips).
SWIMMING
Distric 10-3A: St. Thomas Aquinas swept the district championship at the Plantation Aquatic Center.
The battle though was for second place as West Broward held off Cooper City on the girls' side and Flanagan held off Cypress Bay on the boys' side.
But the story was Aquinas' depth. The Raiders didn't dominate in terms of wins on either side, although individual girls won three events, only Jorge D'Ugard won an individual event for the Raiders (100 free).
St. Thomas girls had 19 girls make the finals all bringing home important points. The star of the night though was Damaris Iriondo, who won the 200 and 500 freestyle and was on the winning 200- and 400-freestyle relay teams.
The boys placed 21 swimmers in the finals. -- RUDY

The freshman won the 100 freestyle (47.60) by more than four seconds, and was three-tenths of a second shy from scoring a double-A time on his 50 free (21.80).
Les Moore (200 IM), Yousef Alaskari (100 fly) and Jose Serra (100 back) also had first place finishes for the Stallions, who broke Cardinal Gibbons four-year district win streak.
American Heritage had 450.5 points, with Gibbons in second place with 396.5. University School came in third with 261 points.
Gibbons' girls finished first for its fifth consecutive title. The Chiefs had 584 points, followed by Heritage (446) and University School (224).
