ROUNDUP
Pine Crest, Gibbons win Mayor's Cup in cross-country
Pine Crest's Joel Rosen and Cardinal Gibbons' Macy Huskey each won individual titles at Mills Pond Park on Tuesday to give the Panthers and Chiefs a share of the inaugural Mayor's Cup.
Broward cross-country powers Pine Crest, St. Thomas, Cardinal Gibbons, and Westminster Academy were among the Fort Lauderdale-based teams vying for the Cup, which is sponsored by Cardinal Gibbons.
Legendary Chiefs coach Glenn Lee reached a significant milestone, earning his 900th combined victory in his 33rd year at the helm.
Fort Lauderdale Mayor Jack Seiler attended the meet and handed out awards. Rosen clocked 17:12 to finish ahead of St. Thomas' Thomas McCarthy and help the Panthers clinch the boys' team title.
Huskey, who won the Westminster Academy Small School Girls title on Saturday, ran 20:42 to finish ahead of Pine Crest's Nicole Golden and Huskey's teammate, Kandace Newry.
