Pine Crest's Brandon Knight finalist for Gatorade award

Fort Lauderdale Pine Crest senior guard Brandon Knight is a finalist for the Gatorade High School Athlete of the Year Award that will be presented at a luncheon in Hollywood, Calif., on July 15 before the ESPY Awards.
Knight, who has a 4.28 grade-point average, earned the opportunity after being named the Gatorade National Boys' Basketball Player of the Year. Knight is ranked No. 2 overall by Rivals.com for the 2010 recruiting class.
The other finalists are Garrett Gilbert (Texas, football), Reed Connor (Texas, cross-country), Dillon Powers (Texas, soccer), Matt Hobgood (California, baseball) and Curtis Beach (New Mexico, track and field).
