GULLIVER'S KELLAM
CHOOSES OLE MISS
Senior defensive back Artice Kellam became the second Gulliver defensive back to commit to a Football Bowl Subdivision school this season. Kellam, a 5-11, 180-pound safety, orally committed to the University of Mississippi late Thursday night.
Kellam, who also has offers from South Carolina, Minnesota and Connecticut, runs a 4.52 40-yard dash and had 60 tackles as a junior.
This season, he has helped Gulliver to a 7-1 record and a runner-up spot in District 8-2A.
Kellam is one of six players on Gulliver's roster who have FBS offers.
Wide receiver Connor Vernon committed to Duke before the season. Vernon has 642 yards on 37 receptions and six touchdowns.
Linebacker Frank Telfort is rated as one of the top players in the nation at his position. Southern California, LSU and Florida are among his list of suitors.
He visited USC this past weekend and plans to see LSU next.
Running back Darian Mallary, also has an offer from Ole Miss. He had 852 yards and five touchdowns entering Friday's game.
Cornerback Frank Crawford has offers from Ole Miss, Alabama, Florida State and West Virginia and wide receiver Daniel Rodriguez has an offer from Northern Illinois.
OLIVER KEY TO
SURGING SPARTANS
Southridge might be out of the playoff hunt, but don't tell that to senior running back Brandon Oliver.
Oliver surpassed 1,000 yards for the season Thursday to lead Southridge to its third consecutive victory after an 0-5 start.
Oliver has 1,006 yards on 174 carries and 13 touchdowns this season.
Oliver (5-7, 185, 4.5 speed) is rated a three-star prospect by Rivals.com, and he has attracted interest from such schools as Colorado State, FIU and Florida Atlantic. But he doesn't yet have a scholarship offer.
