Southwest beats South Miami in volleyball

Southwest defeated South Miami in four games 23-25, 25-17, 25-13, 25-14 to start the season 2-0.

Shannon Ferguson led the Eagles with 18 kills, two aces and eight digs.

Hannah Penna added seven kills and six aces while Christie Pradus had 50 assists.

• Ronald Reagan d. Archbishop Curley, 25-19, 23-25, 25-20, 25-18: Jacky Prado led the Bison (1-0) with seven kills, three aces, one block and a save. Gaby Godwin had seven kills, seven aces and one save. Adriana Valiente had six kills, two aces and four blocks.

• Mast Academy d. Westland Hialeah, 25-21, 21-25, 25-21, 25-13: MA 1-1.

• LaSalle d. Carrollton, 25-15, 25-6, 25-27, 25-21: Rosan Ribera led the Royal Lions (1-1) with eight aces, 13 kills and seven digs. Caro Sinoes had 10 kills and six blocks. Lauren Behar had four aces and 58 assists.

• Ransom Everglades d. Coral Shores, 25-20, 29-27, 25-11: Sammi Wyler led the Raiders (4-0) with eight kills and 15 digs. Viki Collazo added five kills and Jane Kislak had 26 assists, four service aces and five digs.

• Thursday -- Sunset d. Braddock 25-16, 25-18, 23-25, 25-23: Lucie Perez led the Knights (1-1) with 19 kills and five digs. Denise Diaz added four aces and 17 digs. Jovanna Santa Maria had 28 assists and eight digs.
