Miami Herald Writer

Demetrius Whitehead threw for 168 yards and four touchdowns passes to lead Jackson to a 35-0 victory against Key West in front an estimated crowd of 2,500 at Curtis Park on Friday.

With the win, the Generals clinched second place in District 13-6A and their first playoff appearance since 2006.

``We came out expecting a good fight,'' said Whitehead, who completed 11 of 22 passes and threw an interception. ``But we felt we wanted the game more and fought hard for it.''

Whitehead hit Deandre Jasper on a 10-yard fade route to the left corner of the end zone to give Jackson a 7-0 lead with 6:40 left in the first quarter.

Their next touchdown came less than four minutes later on a fake field goal. Rashard Stewart pitched a shovel pass to Therezie Robenson, who ran it in from 16 yards out to give the Generals a 14-0 lead.

Jackson took a 21-0 lead as Whitehead connected with Chad Dancy for a 19-yard touchdown pass with 1:23 before halftime. A 15-yard throw to Kerry Mintz made the score 28-0 with 2:39 in the third quarter. Whitehead threw to Jasper again in the left corner of the end zone for a 17-yard touchdown that made the score 35-0 with 11:43. Jasper caught four passes for 60 yards in the game.

Key West's Stephen Jones rushed for 96 yards and threw for 100 to lead the Conchs (4-3, 1-2), who had four turnovers in the game.

Belen 48, Westland Hialeah 7: Belen Jesuit clinched an undefeated season in District 15-3A play with the homecoming win.

Sergio Fernandez-Soto scored three touchdowns for the Wolverines (6-3, 4-0), who reached the end zone on their first five possessions.

Facing third-and-10 in a scoreless game, Nic Platt found Fernandez-Soto cutting left across the field. Immediately after making the catch, the senior receiver changed direction for a 53-yard score.

Fernandez-Soto added a 16-yard touchdown run out of the Wildcat formation and a 66-yard catch-and-run that gave Belen a 34-0 halftime lead.

Platt, Fernandez-Soto and Belen's 25 other seniors were honored during a halftime presentation.

``We actually started 20 of them,'' Belen coach Rich Stuart said. ``It felt real good to get them a lot of playing time and have a big win on Homecoming.''

In the second half, underclassmen Lorenzo Woodley and Alec Macias scored for Belen, and freshman Xavier Hines and sophomore Jordan Esteban recorded interceptions. Westland junior Greg Beason led the Wildcats (2-7, 1-3) with 20 rushes for 81 yards.
