    Central dominates Columbus, sets up rematch with Northwestern

    Rematch set.

    A day after Miami Northwestern did its part, Miami Central's football team had little trouble securing a second matchup between the rivals after dominating Columbus 36-7 in a Region 4-6A quarterfinal Friday night at FIU Stadium.

    Central commits to run, shuts out Hialeah

    Central all but sealed the district 13-6A runner-up spot Friday afternoon as they shut out Hialeah 48-0 at Traz Powell Stadium.

    The Rockets (7-1, 3-1 District 13-6A) recorded their sixth shutout of the season, holding the usually potent Thoroughbred running game to 42 yards.

    With a national TV audience looking in, Miami Northwestern rallied from a 14-2 deficit to top Miami Central at FIU Stadium.

    Dominant defense sparks Central

    All week, Central coach Telly Lockette talked about his team starting games fast.

    The Rockets didn't start Friday's game fast -- committing 12 first-half penalties for 111 yards -- but they finished the game strong, gaining 436 yards of total offense en route to a 34-3 victory over host Daytona Beach Mainland.
