Five things to watch next week

in Broward

1. DANCE OR GO HOME

District 11-6A has been one of the most competitive in football in the entire state this season. Everglades can keep the dance going a bit longer if it beats Cypress Bay next Friday and forces a three-way tiebreaker that would include Miramar. The Lightning clinch the district with a win that would make Miramar the runner-up.

2. NOVEMBER MADNESS

The struggle to reach Lakeland gets more intense Tuesday and Wednesday as Broward's district volleyball survivors play the regional quarterfinal round.

3. DECISION TIME

Swimmers will punch their tickets to the state championship meets next weekend as the regional tournaments are held Thursday through Saturday.

4. RUN FOR THE GOLD

The postseason for cross-country begins around the state with the district championship meets. Broward's best will compete Wednesday through Friday at various parks.

5. BACK ON THE PITCH

After a rare season in which Broward was shut out of the state tournament, the county's girls' soccer powerhouses try to make it back as the regular season begins Monday.
