Boyd Anderson blanked South Plantation 26-0 in a district game Friday night at Sandra Darr Field.

With 7:49 left in the fourth quarter, sophomore quarterback Kyle Sinclair fumbled at the South Plantation 35-yard line. Boyd Anderson (1-3) recovered, setting up first and 10.

One run and an incomplete pass led to a third and 3 on the South Plantation 25-yard line.

Sophomore Jesse York caught a pass from sophomore Dean James for a 25-yard touchdown. The kick was good and the Cobras led 26-0.

''We played as a team,'' Boyd Anderson coach Mark James said.

The Cobras lost three close games this season. As defending district champions, this was an important game for the Cobras.

''When a cobra's back is against the wall, there's only one thing it can do, and that's strike -- and that's what we did,'' James said. ``This is a district win, a huge win.''

Senior Tony Hughes ran 10 yards for the Cobras' first touchdown of the game. O'Neil West's kick was no good and Boyd Anderson led 6-0 with 4:51 left in the first quarter.

South Plantation (3-1) was just short of a touchdown late in the fourth quarter when Ira Jackson dropped a 4-yard pass from Kyle Sinclair in the end zone.

In a nine-play possession covering 34-yards, the Cobras scored their third touchdown early in the fourth quarter. Senior Kenny Graham ran up the middle for a 1-yard touchdown.

The kick was good and Boyd Anderson led 19-0 with nine minutes left in the game.

• McArthur 30, Hollywood Hills 16: The Mustangs showed up to this division game ready to win and they handled the Spartans. They took advantage of mistakes made by Hollywood Hills, including two fumbles recovered by the Mustangs. The only completed pass thrown by Jerry Caplan was an interception by Arthur Fair.

The only scoring in the first quarter was a safety for the Spartans when Chris Secrest missed the ball he was supposed to punt and it went into the end zone. The Mustangs woke up in the second quarter and the scoring began.

After a 63-yard pass by Jovan Smith to Denzel McCullum, Marqueze Williams ran for a 2-yard touchdown just three minutes into the second quarter. Secrest kicked a 24-yard field goal, capitalizing on a Spartan fumble as the first half came to an end.

The Mustangs started the second half with a 24-yard touchdown run by Brazario Hanna. Then the Spartans answered with a 3-yard touchdown run from Luis Vasquez. With just five seconds left in the third quarter, Smith completed a 78-yard pass to Williams for another Mustang touchdown.

Even Javon Smith ran for a touchdown from the 3-yard line.

Smith passed for 174 yards to four different receivers and four running backs combined for 117 yards.

''It was a total team effort,'' McArthur coach Mike Zarra said. ``[The] offense played well, [the] defense played well.''

The Spartans scored one last time with 10 seconds left in the game on a 21-yard run by Courtney Clark. But it didn't help them in their loss to McArthur, which is now 2-0 in its district. And it didn't stop the Mustangs' celebration that took place on the 50-yard line after the game.

''We told the guys to have fun. They're a good team. We had a slow start to the season but we told them not to worry about that, just go out there and play,'' Zarra said.
