St. Thomas Aquinas to play game on ESPN
Fresh off its first state championship since 1999, Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas' football team will play an ESPN-televised game in the Kirk Herbstreit Varsity Football Series in late August.
The Raiders, who beat Osceola 35-20 to win last year's 5A state title, will face Cincinnati's Elder High School at 11 a.m. Aug. 30 in Paul Brown Stadium, home of the NFL's Bengals.
The game is set to air on ESPN on Sept. 1, according to the series. In all, the Herbstreit series features 15 games played in Paul Brown Stadium, the Pro Football Hall of Fame Field at Fawcett Stadium in Canton, Ohio, and Texas Stadium in Irving, Texas. St. Thomas is the only Florida team among the 30 scheduled to play.
