As national and regional recruiting analysts will soon converge on this area of the country to check out some of the elite prospects going through speed and agility drills, it is a reminder how impressive this next wave of talent really is.

After following talent in this part of the country for more than 44 years, I have not taken it for granted when it comes to the level of play we have and the elite athletes who pass through on the way to the next level.

Just like the classes of 2014, 2013 and the dozens before them, the Class of 2015 is upholding the prospect-rich area.

This is a class as we usher in another promising offseason that will leave a mark in the collegiate and professional ranks.

This is a class with football players who have been leading since they put on that first uniform. Highly prized prospects such as Plantation American Heritage quarterback Torrance Gibson, running back Jordan Scarlett (Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas), Miami Central receiver Da’vante Phillips, Hialeah Champagnat Catholic receiver Steven Claude and Miami Northwestern receiver Jovon Durante.

Where other offensive performers such as Miami Booker T. Washington quarterback Tim Alexander, tight end Devonaire Clarington (Miami Southridge), South Dade running back Johnnie Hankins, Miami Westminster Christian athletes Jordan Cronkite and Tim Irvin, St. Thomas Aquinas receivers Juwaun Harris and Devante Peete, and running back Deltron Sands, Hallandale running back Taj McGowan, Miami Southwest quarterback Deundre Pickett White and athlete Trevon Sands, Pembroke Pines Flanagan quarterback Ryan Stanley, Coconut Creek Monarch receiver Calvin Ridley, Sunrise Piper running back Travis Liburd and Shaquery Wilson (Coral Gables) have been turning heads.

The Class of 2015 also is stout on defensive with Central defensive backs Calvin Brewton and Olin Cushion, lineman Fermin Silva, Plantation American Heritage defensive back Tavarus McFadden, Miramar safety Kendrell McFadden. Jeffrey Hill and cornerback Tyrek Cole, Hallandale linebacker Sh'mar Kilby Lane, St. Thomas Aquinas defensive backs Tyson Cisrow, Rashard Causey, Lance Deveaux and lineman Brandon Boyce, Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons defensive end Richard McIntosh, Killian defensive back Jaquan Johnson and linebacker Bruce Davis, South Plantation safety Rodrick Archer, defensive back Gerald Robinson and linebacker Danny Thomas (Champagnat Catholic), Monarch safety Shawn Burgess, Fort Laudedale Stranahan safety Richie Kittles, linebacker Emilio Gibbs (Coral Gables), Miami Gulliver Prep linebacker Dominic Sheppard and Deerfield Beach lineman Jason Strowbridge.
