Hilton Joseph threw for 261 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Pioneers (2-1, 1-0 District 13-8A) to 49-0 a shutout victory over the Gladiators (1-2, 0-1) in their opening district matchup.
Through a driving rain, the Pioneers led a downpour of their own, exploding for 32 points in the first half.
“We played good,” Joseph said. “We haven’t had to deal with rain yet this year or even last year, but I think we handled it pretty good.”
The Pioneers’ fast-paced offense was unaffected by the weather, as Joseph connected with receivers Tavaris Harrison for two scores and Victor Sam for a 60-yard touchdown. Just before the end of the first half, Joseph found running back Alex Pierre for 39 yards, just short of the end zone. Rooslet Larose capped off the drive with a 1-yard score.
Never miss a local story.
The Pioneers kept the Gladiators under 100 yards of total offense despite committing 11 penalties for 80 yards.
