Miami Herald to host All-Dade Athletic Awards on Wednesday

After a record-breaking season that has included 26 overall state champions, The Miami Herald will honor its best high school athletes Wednesday morning at its annual All-Dade Athletic Awards sponsored by Doctors Hospital Center for Orthopedics and Sports Medicine and The Orange Bowl.

The event begins at 8:30 a.m. at Jungle Island near downtown Miami and will once again honor excellence in 18 sports.

Players and Coaches of the Year in all the sports will be announced as well as the Overall Athletes of the Year and the Overall Coaches of the Year.

The top athletic programs also will be honored with the All-Sports Awards.

The program also will include The Herald’s Lifetime Achievement Awards and the Leo Suarez/Walter Krietsch Courage Award, which salutes individuals in the high school sports community that exemplify extraordinary courage in the face of adversity.
