Sony Michel rushed for 236 yards and three touchdowns as American Heritage topped Immokalee 49-34 at Gary Bates Stadium on Friday night in a Region 5A-4 semifinal.
Michel had two 2-yard touchdown runs and a 28-yard run for a score as the Patriots racked up 451 yards of total offense.
American Heritage (11-1) will take on Wauchula Hardee on the road next Friday in the Region 5A-4 title game.
“It was my night,” Michel said. “I really have to thank the O-line because I felt like this was one of their best games. They really went hard.”
The Indians (9-3) fought back to trim the lead to 21-14 after touchdowns by JC Jackson and D’Ernest Johnson but Michel answered to give the Patriots a 28-14 lead.
“They just kept coming back and coming back,” Patriots coach Mike Rumph said. “[Sony] has been our horse for four years. He gets stronger as the game goes on so we knew we could ride him.”
