American was not ready for what Plantation’s running attack had to offer.
The Colonels ran for a total of 218 yards and scored three of their four touchdowns on the ground with 160 of those yards coming from junior Antwuan Haynes, to beat American 26-15 at Milander Park.
American’s lack of discipline didn’t help the cause either. The Patriots commuted 11 penalties for 75 yards, 17 more the amount of yards they amassed on the ground.
Touchdown runs by Kama Burns and Dawun Hylton prevented the game from being a massive blowout. A third quarter safety round out the scoring for the Patriots.
Plantation quarterback and University of Florida cornerback commitment Chris Lammons did not play after being limited in practice this week with a hip pointer injury.
Plantation coach Steve Davis said Lammons will return to action next week against St. Thomas Aquinas on Friday.
