Carol City hangs on to beat American

After three lost fumbles in the third quarter — which led to it losing the lead — Carol City rallied with eight seconds left to beat American at Traz Powell.

Chiefs quarterback and UM commitment Trayone Gray had two touchdowns, while Ronneldon Ellington added two of his own, including the game winner.

The Patriots then scored twice in the third quarter, with quarterback Ed Crouch hitting Karon Jackson from 22 yards away and Arkeem Granger’s second touchdown of the day, a 14-yard score.

With the game in the balance, the Patriots tried to drive down the field, but Crouch fumbled trying to scramble for extra yards with 21 seconds left.
