Homestead, playing heavy-hearted in the absence of coach Larry Coffey, who missed the game to be next to his ailing father, defeated Northwestern on Friday night at Traz Powell Stadium.
The Broncos (6-3, 1-3 District 16-6A) were led by junior quarterback Maurice Alexander, who passed for 141 yards and one touchdown, and added a rushing TD.
Alexander began the comeback down by a score, with a 15-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Ermon Lane early in the second quarter, and the Broncos would build on it from that point on.
With the loss, the Bulls’ (4-5, 1-3) playoffs hopes all but diminished.
