The undefeated Eagles (8-0, 4-0 district 15-8A) beat the Falcons (4-4, 2-2) in a high-scoring shootout Friday at Tropical Park. The game was tight throughout, and Ferguson had the ball with 36 seconds to play, but an interception by Daquantay Smith iced the Eagles’ win.
The Falcons led 34-31 following a 26-yard touchdown catch by Andres Saldivar on a pass from Joey Rubio. The Eagles replied on the following drive with 23-yard touchdown run by Southwest quarterback D’undre Pickett-White.
Pickett-White led the Eagles with 318 passing yards, 83 rushing yards and four touchdowns.
